The quickest and easiest way to sign up for direct debit is by filling in the 'sign up for direct debit' form.


The alternative options are to complete the direct debit request form (attached below) and return it to rates@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au or call our customer service team on 1300 179 944 and request a form.


Please have a copy of your latest rates notice at hand, as you will need your unique reference code located in the bottom right corner of the notice. Staff at our Language Link phone line are available to translate your emailed rates notices for you. Please call 9932 1212.


If you pay your rates by direct debit you can choose from:

  • quarterly instalment dates; or
  • annual payment on the due date of the 1st instalment; or
  • 10 monthly payments from September to June.

If any of these dates fall on a weekend or public holiday, then payments will be processed on the next business day.


Note: to be eligible for direct debit arrangement, the rates payments must be up to date.
